Farewell Red

Lifted by the breeze, flutter, whirling past the trees,
I watch a little leaf fly on over your head.
If you are near to me, maybe someday we will see
That sadness and misery will vanish in the sky.
I should have said what I couldn't say
About meeting you that autumn's day.
The love that bloomed while all else is dead,
Paints the memories behind my eyes
Stumbling blind, I start to make my way,
I fall behind, as dark dissolves the day.
Here, down on the ground, filled with sighs
Lips covered with the thing that I didn't say
"Red leaves begun to fade that day"
